For the first time this year, we've reached 30C/86 F give or take a couple of degrees (2 days later it is at least 33C/91F). It isn't super dry here, but after a few warm days, surface water is not abundant- I think most of the insects can still get enough from plants, but I make sure to put out some water (see link to yesterday's video). I don't water my gardens a lot, they have to stand on their own, generally! but I do some watering of veg beds, nursery pots etc. and in some cases just spray a bit of water on vegetation for the insects. Some of the critters, especially butterflies, find those wet spots quickly! Here some Crescents- maybe Northern Crescent / Phyciodes cocyta were enjoying some moisture on the grass mulch I used on a potato bed. Butterflies Don't Play: found this bed as soon as I watered!
