-25C/-13F Walk in the Frosty Woods

Wind Mother and Forest Mother have been good to me- delivering lots of good quality dry fallen trees for me to harvest this year, so I'm ahead on firewood! Since I knew some cold days were coming this week, I made sure to get even more cut last week so I wouldn't have to spend time out cutting on these days- esp since snow was also forecast, which makes getting wood more of a hassle. In the end we didn't get a whole lot of snow, but we have had a few days below -20C/-4F. I can and have worked outside at those temperatures, but you have to watch fingers and my feet especially get cold after a while -face too, though my face is pretty tough, depends on wind exposure also. Anyway, I've been glad to have a couple days off -- still needed to be outside to do other things- dealing with water pump stuff ( a story on its own) and getting the chimney properly cleaned so the wood stove burns well without smoke inside (another whole story..lol). Still, I found time yesterday to go for a walk in the bush on the farm-- really pretty with rime frost (frozen fog) and a bit of fresh snow.
