Recorded live during one of her captivating performances at Al Ain Mall, Diana Susanti, drawing inspiration from the incredible Indonesian Jazz prodigy Joey Alexander, delivered a mesmerizing rendition of the classic Jazz-Bebop masterpiece by the legendary Thelonious Sphere Monk (1917-1982), titled “Criss Cross.” In her unique style, Susan infused the piece with joyous energy that allowed any sorrow to dissipate gracefully through her brilliant improvisation. While she maintained the essential structure of the original composition, her innovative improvisation breathed new life into this already cherished masterpiece. For Diana, this iconic work serves as an expression that although life may seem meaningless at times, there is still an abundance of joy and gratitude to be found even in its simplest forms. She believes that trials are not nightmares but rather blessings in disguise; they are integral parts of our existence where joy and love should always be celebrated wholeheartedly. This release marks a significant breakthrough for her as she embarks on the next exciting stage of her musical journey.
