Ah yes, the BSMT2000 sound. This was the era when everything "hi-fi" had their own "cool" sound, apparently following the THX sound system's footsteps.

BSMT2000 was the sound chip used in a lot of 90s and early 00s Data-East, Sega and Stern pins (and in some vids too!). Its presense was often advertised just as passionately as the "Digital Stereo" in earlier games.

Technically it's a DSP chip (TI TMS320C15) with custom firmware. It was designed by Brian Schmidt and the name comes from "Brian Schmidt's Mouse Trap" and 2000 apparently because 2000 was cool.
