When Russians tell you their plans - believe them. Surprisingly precise forecast of US steps voiced on 20 February 2025 by Russian State Duma deputy Mikhail Sheremet. Russia was going into negotiations with the US fully aware that Ukraine wouldn't agree to Russia’s unjust demands, so the plan was to wait for President Zelensky to reject absurdly unfair "peace proposal" and use this as pretext to stop US support. US was expected to 1) stop financial and military aid to Ukraine, 2) to turn off Starlink for Ukrainian army, 3) stop sharing images from American satellites with Ukraine. Note that Sheremet literally says "when Zelensky rejects our agreement", meaning any agreement between US and Russia, and then says "our hands will be untied", meaning US will have a pretext to stop the support. Sheremet then says that when US completes these steps, "we will then purge that Banderite filth in a few months".
