Portland on DV - Tilikum Crossing

Enjoyed the day exploring Tilikum Crossing with my SD camcorder. Filmed in Portland, Oregon on March 5, 2025.

FUN FACTS:

  • Standard Definition (SD) video is only 16% the resolution of High Definition (HD), and a microscopic 4% the resolution of 4K. Captured on small cassette tapes, the Mini DV format was popular back in the late '90s through early 2000s.
  • Numerous feature films have been shot on this format, such as Thomas Vinterberg's very first Dogme 95 picture "Festen," Danny Boyle's zombie hit "28 Days Later," and David Lynch's final film "Inland Empire."
  • For me, Mini DV has a very dreamlike, muted softness to it that I love. It's easily a close second favorite format of mine next to Super 8mm/Super 16mm film.
