A morning drapery of fog obscures the left bank of the Snohomish River near BNSF Delta Yard. Like a cautious ghost, Amtrak 516 moves attentively through the mist knowing there will be a stop signal ahead at Delta Junction. A freight train has lost its air and a repair must be made before the line can be cleared for Amtrak to proceed.
Later in the day, and farther north near Stanwood WA, the fog burned off to reveal the deep blue sky that the Pacific Northwest is famous for. We watch a southbound manifest haul goods from Canada that will soon find their way all over the West Coast of the United States.
BNSF Bellingham Subdivision is an important link for freight and passengers traveling between Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. This former Great Northern line runs between PA Junction at Everett WA and the USA-Canada border at Blaine WA.
Thanks for watching.
