So now we’ve come to Nathair Facula on the planet Mercury, and the facula is a bright spot on the planet. and you can see that Nathair Facula is much lighter in this monochrome image than the surroundings. And if we look at it in enhanced colour data, we can see that it has this very striking yellow appearance, which means that it’s brighter and redder than most typical terrains on Mercury. And we interpret this diffuse red deposit as being an explosive volcanic eruption deposit. And whenever that explosive volcanic eruption was occurring it excavated this large, 50 km across, volcanic crater.
