DESCRIPTION
Tombo Ati is a traditional Javanese poemm created by Sunan Bonang, a Walisongo who comes from Tuban, East Java. This song contains 5 basic ways for a Muslim to obtain spiritual peace and tranquility, namely by reading the Qur'an and its meanings, performing the sunnah tahajjud prayer (as well as performing fardhu prayers), gathering with pious people, carrying out sunnah fasts, (in addition to carrying out obligatory fasting), as well as constantly dhikr of Allah.
"Tombo Ati" poem:
Tombo Ati iku limo perkarane Kaping pisan moco Qur'an sak maknane Kaping pindo sholat wengi lakonono Kaping telu wong kang sholeh kumpulono Kaping papat kudu weteng ingkang luwe Kaping limo zikir wengi ingkang suwe
Salah sawijine sopo biso anglakoni Insya Allah, Gusti Allah ngijabahi
Written by Raden Sayid Maulana Makhdum Ibrahim (Sunan Bonang) (1465 - 1525 CE) English Translation by Ayisha Abdul Basith & Dian Fera Dita
Translation Editorial Notes:
"In the lyrics 'Kaping papat kudu weteng ingkang luwe', which is literally translated as 'Fourthly, must endure fasting (in the context of 'Tirakat')', we alter the meaning to 'Fourthly, uphold the sanctity and respect for one another' as it's emphasize the essence of 'Tombo Ati' poem from broader perspective while not undermining its literal meaning and interpretation"

ABOUT THE ALBUM
Susan’s freshly calm rendition of the timeless Syi’ir of Kanjeng Sunan Bonang (Raden Sayid Maulana Makhdum Ibrahim, 1465-1525 CE)’s “Tombo Ati” released at the dawn to welcoming Ramadan. This Syi’ir “Tombo Ati” have been known in Eastern Javanese culture as a usual part of Masjid’s pujian (the poem which recited between Adzan & Iqamah, known in Javanese-based Mosques) or oftentimes recite in Societal Gathering. The soothing melody in a fusion of Classical and Javanese Traditional music, reciting the reminder of the Ultimate healing of our wounded hearts. As our reminders that we are just mere slaves of the Almighty, the melody made to be earthly and simple as straightforward as the messages of the Kanjeng Sunan Bonang tried to convey of this timeless Syi’iran.
