Building Temporary Companionway Steps. DIY Boat Refit Progress 16

time7 mo agoview0 views

I've built some temporary companionway steps while half term boat refitting is delayed by Storm Eunice (over 60mph was forecast for Beaumaris). But will they fit in our little Nissan Leaf?

Hopefully this will provide easy access so that we can take our time to refurbish the original ones, fit the French Cleats to support them and properly prepare the bulkhead that they fit to.

We are going to try producing short daily vlogs of our progress during this half term (although it might not be lots as another storm seems to be forecast for Sunday/Monday . Let us know what you think of the idea.

We are refitting a 45year old Rival 38 for a Sustainable Sailing retirement in a few years. Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). All the rigging is being replaced with Dyneema and we are significantly re-working the cabins.
