Andy Balaam sets up his Linux machine for writing an Android application using the new Android Studio environment. Covers downloading and installing the environment, creating a simple program, connecting an android device to the computer and running the program on it, and grabbing screenshots of the phone screen onto the computer. Later, we will look at how to build an Android program that shares code with non-Android versions.
