As part of an ongoing discussion in the community—and to feed my curiosity—I tried to dissect Cyrus/Basic Channel's 'Presence'. Which I consider to be a sound-design and engineering masterpiece. As much as I'm satisfied about cutting into aspects of its gist, as much am I aware about how far off it still is. And think it'd at least take 3x the time to re-do it that it took them to produce it.
This exists to give you an idea of the signal flow and routing possibilities of consoles. As well as organic/intertwined systems of sound. How to approach sound-design differently. And would like to encourage you to experiment and think outside the box. The music landscape needs more people who try to develop their own sound. As opposed to being satisfied with recreating boutique sound from YouTube. Music production is not a game to play right or or wrong or even win. It's up to you to rewrite its rules. Trust your gut. <3
Much love and respect to Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald. Who elevated the art of sound design and mix engineering to a different level.
