The phase of Africa's colonisation that began with the "Congo Conference" in Berlin in 1884 and led to the imperialist division of the continent between European countries is known as the "Scramble for Africa".

140 years later, there is a new competition between the global powers concerning Africa, in which Europe is just one player among others. During the Africa workshop organised by the taz Panter Foundation 16 journalists from Africa examined the effects of this development. The result is the bilingual magazine "trans-continental".

In this video, the colleagues from Africa talk about their specific topics for the magazine - and how they experienced the final project week in Berlin.
