307 Tachyon Dreams (Gamemaker Studio) Free Retro Scifi Pixel Art Textparser Adventure Game Timetravel

time3 mo agoview0 views

A fun little scifi adventure that plays a bit like the classic spacequest and it has that retro EGA colorscheme with great pixelart to get you in the mood. The story is an interesting take, the whole crew of the ship went missing in a timetravel accident and you need to fix it. Sadly this never resolves, even when finishing the game we never meet the crew that went missing. Also the text parser could understand more words, sometimes it reacts a bit stubborn, but then I wouldn't want to code a textparser myself and there is a reason most of the games on this channel are point and click with mouse controls and not text parser games... There is little to no music and sparse sound effects but they are blippy and fitting to the EGA colors. The puzzles are set up okay but some are not very intuitive, like the mushroom used to fuel the fire, gotta think of that. sometimes the parser becomes a puzzle in itself when the "Look Chimney" command is something completey different from the "Look inside chimney" command. Kind of makes sense but is very hard to figure out...

Sorry for the flickering in the recording, the game is windows only so I recorded it running in a windows VM on linux, seems like OBS is having problems with that, I need to find a fix for future windows only games, I had none of that flickering while playing...

Synopsis: You're Dodger, a dish washer (a person, not a machine!) onboard Space Station Penrose, where temporal experiments are being conducted. One of them is about to go very wrong... Only you can save the fate of the timeline itself! With your, you know, stellar dishwashing skills an' all that!

Tachyon Dreams I: The Radiant Fish of the Apocalypse is the first chapter in what I hope will be a series of humorous, text-parser games with EGA graphics that will look and feel very much like the mid/late 80's adventure games by Sierra. Think early Space Quest games. Think AGI.

Each chapter is going to be pretty short, perhaps 30-45 minutes of gameplay. But with your support if you enjoy the games and choose to donate and support me, they can become bigger and be released more frequently.
