Since 2014, at least eight confirmed craters have been found on or close to the Yamal Peninsula, in Siberia. This mysterious sinkhole is a hundred-and-fifty feet deep. Filled up with rainwater, its volume is greater than 10 Olympic swimming pools — and for a time, no one knew what caused it.
