The «Platsdarm» search unit, founded by Oleksii Yukov, has been recovering and evacuating the bodies of fallen Ukrainian and Russian soldiers since 2014. Since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, its volunteers have returned more than 3,000 bodies — working under constant threat of shelling and danger.
Journalists from Gwara Media joined «Platsdarm» on a mission to the border of Kharkiv and Donetsk regions to document the process of search, identification, and evacuation of remains. Volunteers shared the unique challenges of their work and explained why they consider it essential — emphasizing that every fallen soldier deserves a proper burial, regardless of which side they fought for.
