In this opening monologue, Kelly begins by tackling the results of the 2024 EU elections - Europeans far and wide voted, with a 51% turn out! The eventful month brought certain shifts in political parties, and after negotiations between EU leaders, the top jobs were decided. June also brought the end of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU and the beginning of the Hungarian one - the motto being "Make Europe Great Again" (wonder where we've heard that before?). In other news, Putin made a visit to North Korea and met with totalitarian leader Kim Jong Un - and the dynamic duo took a spin in a car, bringing us one of the greatest photos of all time. On the other side of the world, the United States had a disastrous first presidential debate between current president Biden and presidential candidate Donald Trump... it was incredibly cringey, to say the least.
