Did you know that the longest overwater bridge in the world is in Louisiana, USA? It's called the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, and it stretches an incredible 38.5 kilometers, without a single turn! 🚗 Some drivers get so disoriented, especially in fog or heavy rain 🌧️ that they panic and call emergency services, thinking they’ve lost all sense of direction. To help with this, a patrol car is stationed right in the middle of the bridge to assist confused or even motion-sick travelers 🚓 The bridge crosses Lake Pontchartrain, which is larger in area than the entire city of London and is supported by more than 9,500 concrete pilings. Construction began in 1955, and just a year later the first span opened. Later, a second span was added to handle traffic in both directions. 🛠️ Even Hurricane Katrina in 2005, one of the most devastating storms in U.S. history, couldn’t bring it down 💨 The bridge carries up to 40,000 vehicles a day 🏆 and stands as a Guinness World Record holder 🚙
