Archived Kimimaru4000 video from YouTube. Original description mostly intact:

This is a video that shows how to cancel planet landings, lava burns (touching lava), wall hits, and ground pounds. The first 4 clips I show are planet landing cancels, the next 3 clips are lava burn cancels, the 3 clips after those are wall hit (doing a long jump into a wall, etc.) cancels, and the last clip shows me doing a lot of ground pound cancels in a row. Please note that planet landing cancels don't work on all planets, and canceling ground pounds doesn't save too much time. Here's how to do each one, incase someone wants to know:

How to cancel planet landings: -When Mario lands on a planet in the beginning of a level, he normally holds his hands out and says "Yes!" When Mario lands on a planet at any other time during the level, he normally has his head down and makes a sound because of the impact from landing. Before landing on a planet, either in the beginning, middle, or end of a level, either keep tapping the "A" button repeatedly, or press the "A" button the moment you land on a planet. If successful, you will jump when Mario is normally doing his landing stance.

How to cancel lava burns: -When you get hit by lava, Mario will normally touch the ground, bounce, touch the ground again, and finally run a little before you're able to control him normally. Wait until Mario hits the ground and bounces. When he touches the ground for the second time, jump. If done correctly, Mario should have jumped instead of doing his normal animation.

How to cancel wall hits: -Hit into a wall in some way, preferably with a long jump. When Mario is on the floor, either tap "A" repeatedly or press "A" after he's been on the floor for a little while to jump. If done correctly, Mario should have jumped instead of staying on the floor for a while.

How to cancel ground pounds: -Jump and do a ground pound. After Mario has been on the ground for roughly half a second, jump. If done correctly, Mario should have jumped instead of stay in the ground pound position for a while.

Enjoy!
