This fanon story was written and directed by Joyfull ( https://twitter.com/joyfulldayo | https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5l69FBJGLBJMDuOCzvwT6w), from the Rakumandan circle, already known as Osana Reimu's creator. This time again, he tackles a shadowy part of the youth of an emblematic character of the #touhou universe and it is Kasen's young years that are imagined and staged in this #anime in 4 episodes.
This video series was produced in 2017 in collaboration with LizTriangle and was published on the bluray 「RED」 This is a narrative version of the PV "Immortal Philosophy".
The manga from which this PV and anime are inspired is 「東方茨歌仙」 (Kasen Ibaraki, the wild and horned hermit) published by 「febri」( http: //www.ichijinsha.co.jp/febri/). If you want to know more about Kasen's character, you are strongly encouraged to read it.

FAQ:
- Why did you choose the Touhoppai name?
- Well... we do Touhou. That's an act. And then... we don't want to name anyone, but it was Valshamr who proposed the name. There, there, there.
- What is this mysterious sentence in the introduction?
- In the original version, it says "Naku-yo/Uguisu/Heiankyo", quite literally "a bird (sparrow/ nightingale type) sings[at] Heian-kyou". It is a short poem that is used as reminder that Heian-kyou (Kyoto today) was the capital of Japan from 794 onwards. Indeed, in Japanese, we sometimes use a correspondence between a number and a syllable that reminds us of the pronunciation of the number (goroawase) and "Naku yo" ([he] sings) corresponds to 794. So it's a little mnemonic poem that we were unable to adapt ¯_(ツ)_/¯
- Where does the name "SuiKasen" come from?
- It's very interesting, because for a long time, internally, we used another name and the one that came to him late in the genesis. The original series is called 「萃華香仙」 which can be read in several ways. The name is close to Kasen's official one, which can be read as "the rose flowers hermit"; here, we could read it "flowers bouquet hermit", but we can also read "Suika Kasen" as our 2 main heroines, but with the character [ka] of Sui[ka]'s official name used to write [Ka]sen here, and vice versa. "Suika Kasen" was used as the internal name for months. And on Dareka's wise advice, to reproduce the intertwining of the names of the 2 heroines with a typically Japanese technique, we went to "SuiKasen" to intertwine the names with a typically Western technique.
