This movie shows the development of CPO in a simple 3D subduction zone. The numbers on the figures are in meters. The figures on the left are the top view, while the right figures are a cross section. In each sub figure, the top image shows the velocity field with the arrows, where the size of the of the arrows are determined by the velocity magnitude and the color the depth, and on the right side the cross section colors show the viscosity field. In the top left figure, the top 150km has been removed to better show the velocity field below. The bottom figure of each sub figure shows the direction of the largest elastic eigenvector, colored by the active olivine fabric type and scaled by the integrated strain invariant such that the size of the cylinder does not grow beyond a integrated strain invariant of 0.5, and on the right side the cross section colors show the background shows the water content. The background on the right pictures is located at 550km, and the arrows and cylinders are cut off up to 450km.
