Trading with and investing in Cuba is a topic of interest for U.S. farmers and agribusinesses who see their access to the nearby market hampered by U.S. sanctions.
"There needs to be two-way trade from Cuba to the United States," said Kansas wheat farmer Doug Keesling, who visited Cuba earlier this month as part of the 4th U.S.-Cuba Agricultural Conference.
But so far, the Biden administration has failed to reverse Trump’s hardline Cuba policy, including the prohibition on financing of U.S. agricultural exports to Cuba, which these farmers say limits their efforts to boost bilateral trade between the two countries.
