The Minister of Culture of Colombia, Patricia Ariza, is a victim of Colombia’s decades-long armed conflict, as was Vice President Francia Márquez.

Together with Márquez she is visiting Havana, where she thanked Cuba for hosting the peace process between the Colombian government and the FARC, which has paved the way for transformative change in Colombia.

Ariza called for an end to what she called the "terrible" U.S. blockade against Cuba and lauded the island for training 800 medical students who are also victims of South America’s longest-running conflict.
