When folks learn about inoculating logs to grow Shiitake mushrooms they often ask where to put the logs. The basics are some place out of the sun and not wind-washed. It's great if you can give them a good soaking once a week if you are experiencing a drought. Once of the most important aspects is that they need to someplace you will regularly visit because once the fruiting starts as a tiny little bump (called pinning) it only takes 4-5 days for the mushroom to be full grown. It wont;t last long after that!
