The sound of birds. That's what I noticed while editing this video. In several scenes, rather than being drowned out by the usual sound of cars driving past, it was chirping birds and honking geese (this is Canada, come on) that the mic picked up. That's because there were so few driving cars around because my city, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is pretty much on lockdown because of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
As we're being encouraged to self-isolate -- and I've been at home for nearly two weeks now -- health officials here are also encouraging us to get out and stay active by walking or riding a bike, as long as we're maintaining a distance of at least two metres from other people to reduce the chances of passing on the virus. That means the streets are nearly devoid of people driving, which certainly made for a unique bike ride.
Check out some of the other things I noticed while riding through a locked-down city. And don't forget to obey the health authorities in your city! Stay close to home and stay safe.
