Here are a couple of traditional Irish jigs. I first heard these two played together as a set on the Joe Cooley album (Cooley). Joe Cooley was an amazing Irish button accordion player. He played with the Tulla Ceili Band, he later lived in the United States for a couple decades before returning to Ireland where he was recorded by Tony MacMahon in a final series of performances before he passed from cancer. It is Tony (a great accordion player himself) who we have to thank for that incredible album of music. Anyway, I love that whole album and listen to it a lot and while I can't really replicate Joe Cooley's infectious rhythm or some of his marvelous melodic turns, I hope something of that inspiration comes through when I play these tunes.
