Irish fiddle tune on viola: Cliffs of Moher

time24 d agoview23 views

A traditional Irish tune, played on viola (transposed down by a 5th from the original key).

This was recorded in between gusts of unexpectedly large wind (attn. The Weather Forecast: you were inaccurate) and chainsaw noises (there was no chainsaw forecast, so nobody can be blamed here).

The pdf sheet music for this tune is available in Volume 3 of my sheet music books of traditional repertoire for viola, available here: https://www.folkviola.co.uk/traditional-tunes-viola.php

These books of sheet music include all the tunes in two versions: one that fits comfortably on the viola (transposed down by a 5th) and one that is in the original key so it's possible to join in with fiddle players and other trad players in sessions and ceilidh bands, without having to shift out of first position.

NEW! Sheet music with the bowings and ornaments that I play in this video is available as part of a sheet music bundle of ten tunes, Folk Viola Bowings and Ornaments Book 1: https://payhip.com/b/Nfl9T
