Methods Russian command uses to discipline their soldiers

Discipline in Russian army is based on violence and blind obedience. This compilation presents a few popular methods of "disciplining" soldiers who refused to participate in deadly human wave attacks ("meat attacks") or were paralysed by fear. The first technique is called "carousel" — a soldier, after being beaten, is tied by his legs to a vehicle and dragged behind it. On the second clip a soldier of the 15th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade was buried up to his head in the ground by another alleged deserter. On the third clip the soldiers of the 9th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade who tried to abandon their positions were locked in a barrel without water or food for several days. If they died from exhaustion, their deaths were covered up by declaring them missing in action. One of the soldiers shown being "fed" with cookies later made the right choice and surrendered to Ukrainian forces. On the fourth clip two "deserters" from the 114th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade were forced to fight to the death on May 9. The winner was allowed to leave the pit. One reportedly strangled the other. This kind of violent enforcement of discipline is nothing new in Russian army and was also widespread in Soviet times. Russians apply the same methods to their soldiers and civilians on the occupied territories. Widespread repressions and violence were one of the reasons why so many Soviet citizens decided to collaborate with Germans during World War 2. The compilation has been prepared by WarArchive channel.
