Learning to play Appalachian dulcimer - Brennan on the Moor

time4 mo agoview1 views

"Brennan on the Moor" is a ballad about an Irish highwayman from back in the early 1800s, and I first heard the song on a CD my brother had of Irish folk music back about 20 or so years ago. I don't know where he got that CD from or why he had it, but I loved this song from it. I don't sing in this video (thank goodness) but the lyrics along with the upbeat tune make it seem almost Robin-Hood-esque, being some sort of celebratory song about a robber.

Not a great performance, but I figured as this is still a "learning to play" series, it's good enough, and I need to be more confident and consistent with uploads. I've been trying to get a decent recording of this one for a long while now and was starting to suffer burnout on it, so maybe I'll come back to it again sometime and get a better take.

Also: Different day from the last video, different brown shirt. I love me some brown shirts.
