Hi welcome to the part 2 of my coloring tutorial videos with Krita 2.9. As usual, all my excuse about my french accent, or the way I spell english...

In the previous video we saw how to color flat area with a very cool GMIC filter within Krita. In this video, I'll show you how to shade them very fast.

First we need to select our color area, then go to layers , split layer A dialog appears on the screen, and you can press ok directly

Now your colored layer is exploded into many layers. Each one of this layers represent a color. I'll call them 'island' now.

All the islands have alpha protection. It means you can't paint on the transparency outise of the island. This will help us to paint very clean zones.

To select an island , no need to guess where is the good layer. Use the 'R' key feature on Krita to pick the layer directly on the canvas.

You can now shade, or paint inside each island. I'm using here brush with color-dodge, overlay, or multiply to shade the zone. I also change all the color-island color with Ctrl+U to change the hue-and-saturation.

When your shading work is done, you can flatten all the group Right click on the group , convert to a paint-layer.

Now that's the end of the part 2, I hope you learnt something. Thank you for watching !
