technique A:
- create an empty sample called 'midi out'
- assign it to the (midi)tracks you want to use
- make sure to set 'Audio Thru' to 'on' in global settings
- profit!
technique B (adds realtime FX):
- set 'Audio Thru' to 'off' in global settings
- set track 16 to sample 'Audio in'
- record an infinite note on track 16
- apply effects to track 16
- profit!
NOTE: I prefer technique A because: I'm lazy + I use my midi-channels as a temporary vehicle to trigger outboard midi-gear (to sample sequenced phrases easily, and resample them later with FX).
