On Saturday 3 May we kicked off ICAW in Australia with an online gathering, showcasing community composting initiatives and promoting new activities to support our community.

This year’s theme, “Sustainable Communities Begin with Compost,” was chosen to highlight the value of composting in all kinds of communities at any scale – from backyard home composters, to community composters, to large-scale facilities and to all those who recognize the many benefits of using compost on our soils. The theme was also inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.”
