Written in a single night while sheltering from a zeppelin bombing raid in the closing months of World War I, this is one of the most dramatic pieces in the organ repertoire. It is the third of the Three Rhapsodies written by Howells.
I played this, which has long been one of my favorite pieces, as the final piece at my Friday Noonday concert at the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago on October 25, 2024 (my first concert as Associate Organist there!).
