The story of Falling Skywards takes place in the gravitational lower orbit of some earth-like planet after a meteoroid crashed down on the planet and catapulted chunks of debris into that orbit. The situation of a catastrophic event bombing huge lumps of planetary surface into orbit is more current than I like to admit, but I wanted to play that game again for the channel and make you know about it and eventually play it too... There are some fun puzzles to solve in the beginning before a looooot of text happens in the middle part of the game. But that pushes on the story and makes the impact of the ending even more powerful. Play it yourself if you want to find out yourself :) The characters are very likeable and well written and fun to explore. The music is very subtle but that is very fitting, together with the eerie atmosphere of the people that died from the catastrophe. And as Ben knows what he is doing, it turns out the graphics and animations are very beautiful to look at, the pixelart characters are huge and fit very well over the handdrawn lovely backgrounds.

Synopsis: When the meteor hit, huge chunks of the earth were launched into the Earth's atmosphere. Now, high above the ground, where the air is thin and gravity weaker, there are whole cities, shattered and orbiting the planet.

Some see opportunity here and fly up in pairs - as one waits for the other in their aircraft, the partner searches through these broken midair wastelands for treasures that can be flown back down to people below, where the world is still recovering from the catastrophe, for a fair profit.

But these airborne cities are desolate and empty, devoid of life, for the air up here is too thin to support mammals without respiration equipment.
