We've had some chilly nights/mornings- trying to get by a little longer with a bit of electric heat when needed, and bundling up in the house! First off, I don't like to start cutting wood in the bush (harvesting deadfall and standing dead trees) while there are still a lot of active wasps- always the chance of disturbing a nest! Also, it's still pretty buggy out in general, and opening the door wide and long enough to get inside with wood could let in enough bugs to drive certain people nuts ;) I tested one fallen tree- rocking, banging, pushing-while watching for upset wasps-- all clear! plus I had some pieces of this same tree under cover, that I had cut when it first fell in early summer. So I did a couple of sled loads, hauled them up to the house and cleaned up the outdoor storage area. Pearly was accompanying me around the acreage, and settled near the wood storage area to lounge in the sun and groom a bit.
