Former Texas police officer Aaron Dean violated various policies and protocols when he responded to a call for a welfare check at the home of Atatiana Jefferson and fatally shot her through her own window, after a neighbor called the police because they thought it was strange the door to the house was open at night. For this crime, Dean was sentenced to 11 years and 10 months in prison.
