A White Tulsa, Oklahoma police officer drove to his adult daughter's Black boyfriend's residence and confronted them, trying to "persuade" the daughter to come back to his home. The cop fatally shot the boyfriend, Jeremey Lake, and witnesses testified that the boyfriend was trying to shake the cop's hand when the cop shot and killed him. Police officer Shannon Kepler claimed that the boyfriend was trying to shoot him, despite the boyfriend being unarmed. After numerous court proceedings, Kepler has been convicted in Federal court of Using a Firearm in the Commission of Second Degree Murder and of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
