Clarence Gailyard and a friend were on a walk in his neighborhood when Orangeburg police officer David Dukes claimed to be responding to a call about a man with a gun and approached the two innocent men who were committing no crimes, and ordered them to the ground. As Mr. Gailyard complied, the officer rushed forward and stomped on Mr. Gailyard's head, causing injury that required hospitalization. Body camera footage captured the brutality, leading to officer David Dukes being fired and criminally charged with First Degree assault and battery.
