András Takács-Sánta on The Power of Community

timea month agoview2 views

We're honored to share this keynote by András Takács-Sánta — Hungarian ecologist, writer, and community builder — who invited us to reflect on crisis and ecological thought. This session was held at the European Ecovillage Gathering 2025 in Manas Garden, Hungary. András reminded us that crisis brings both despair and opportunity to build something better. He cautioned against abandoning mitigation for adaptation alone, calling this a betrayal of ecology itself — which is about loving and protecting all life. He spoke of active hope: acting for good without guarantees, trusting others will do the same, believing in collective power. Nobody is powerless. Strategies include participatory democracy and redefining the good life beyond consumerism. Ecovillages, he emphasized, embody these ideas — not as isolated utopias but as living examples that can flourish everywhere. From Hungarian research programs to global networks, they are seeds of a new ecological civilization. His message: every crisis is an opportunity, and we all have power to act. With courage and love for life, we can create a just, regenerative world. Deep gratitude to András for reminding us transformation's seeds are already here.
