#TheSchumanShow Ever wondered what Members of the European Parliament do? Or even better - ever wondered if they have a sense of humour? We recently sat down with Luxembourgish S&D MEP, Marc Angel, to talk about his work, his life, and what he really thinks about the Grand Duchy.
The paths to becoming a politician aren't always clear. For Marc Angel, who started out as an activist in the 1980s and then funded an NGO, he started locally and then - in his words - "got sucked in, and never got out of it anymore". Part of the Socialist & Democrats political group, he is the only one of six Members of the European Parliament from Luxembourg. In this interview with our host Kelly Agathos, we discover what there is to see in the Grand Duchy (and whether it's still a tax haven...), and whether it has any plans to annex the Belgian part. More officially, MEP Angel is a Quaestor and he explains what these mysterious individuals do in the European Parliament - which happens to be a lot more work then you'd think! MEPs do get help from their Accredited Parliamentary Assistants though, and despite our initial thoughts, they actually don't (just) pick up laundry and lunch for the office. Kelly also tackles questions of artificial intelligence, four-day workweeks, LGBTQI+ rights in Europe, and affordable housing issues. Watch now!
✨Special thanks to MEP Marc Angel.
