Alice in Wonderland - Down the Rabbit Hole

time3 yr agoview13 views

This is a visual effects video we created for a community theater production of "Alice in Wonderland". During the play, the actress ducks behind a curtain, this video plays for her fall into Wonderland, and then she emerges for the rest of the play. So we're basically trying to set the mood for the play.

This was in association with Southwest Reprise Theatre in Fort Worth, TX: http://www.reprisetheatre.com

PROJECT NOTES: Budget was $0. So the green screen was made of bed sheets, and since we'd never done this before, we made a number of mistakes in the video shoot. However, with enough time in Blender's node-based compositor, we were able to get a usable traveling matte to put the character into the CG Rabbit Hole scene.

We recorded most of this process, and will be assembling those recordings into a case-study tutorial on simple green screen work, mistakes we made, and how we managed to recover from them. Perhaps later we can do another green screen project using the lessons we learned on this project.
