Winter Arrives: Getting Firewood + Thunder God Warning?

I've been trying to get ahead on cutting firewood as we've had a somewhat extended period of dry weather through late autumn- since I cut a lot of fallen dead wood, it helps to get it off the ground when it's dry! Last week we had variable forecasts with chance of rain or flurries so Monday I went out to the bush to get some wood off the ground while it was a mix of sun and cloud! I was cutting for a bit in the edge of the woods, it had become more cloudy, and suddenly I heard thunder- wasn't expecting that! Hurried out to a more open spot to look to the west, and sure enough there was a storm with a visible rain area off in the distance. It might miss us, might not, but I didn't want to be caught with a lot of wood on the ground, so I quickly hauled some stuff back home, and stashed the rest under trees where it could stay dry. Just as I finished cutting at home, getting kindling and covering everything up, it started to rain (though in the end that shower wasn't much). So Perkuns, Latvian Thunder /Storm God gave me a welcome warning to hurry up! Even more so with the weather that came along later: forecast was a chance of showers, maybe flurries- what we go that night turned into a wet mix of rain and ice pellets that became several centimetres of snow..
