Why people might leave academia

These are my experiences in an academic environment (i.e., at university) for the past 10 years (i.e., the first 10 years since I've set foot in a university) of unconscious bias, micro-agressions, and just plain disturbing stuff. I deliberately filmed this video as I would have filmed a sketch video (with me dressing up), because I want to show the situations I've encountered and - to a very limited extent - my reaction / double takes to these situations, such that they may serve as the start of a discussion: Why did it make Iris feel uncomfortable? Why did she think twice after someone made this comment? Etc.

Let me know if I should do a follow-up video to provide a little more context (perhaps with a guest for nuance).

I'm terrified of uploading this (for a multitude of reasons), but I hope it might be interesting and maybe it can help start (or add to) a discussion.

Subscribe or I'll leave academia!
