vs NnefariousJack (Party Deck)

The MTG Party mechanic is often overlooked as the creatures tend to be weak. But when you have at least four creatures of types: Cleric, Rogue, Warrior, Wizard, the chips are down.

This deck shows off some of the abilities of the party mechanic.

Iona has X for power where X is the number of creatures in the party. Minimum of 1 (themself). With a full party, Iona picks one creature, and that creature gains +1/+1 and flying till end of turn. Normally lets them attack unopposed.

Nimble Trapfinder is unblockable if you have party member enter the field that turn.

Linvala prevents an opponent creature from blocking if you have a full party. She can be sacrificed to give your creatures Hexproof or Indestructible until end of turn

Bears of Littjara is surprisingly effective. Gives a 2/2 Shapeshifter in Saga 1, makes them base 4/4 in Saga 2 then makes any creature with 4+ power attack any other creature.

NOTE: Shapeshifters count as all creature types and contribute to the Party mechanic. Which is why you saw Littjara also affect Masked Vandal

Squad Commander is the one which normally causes a concede. When it enters the field, it creates X tokens where X is the number of members in the party. With a full party, all your creatures gain +1/+1 at combat, and indestructible until end of turn.

Also, with four creatures up, the counter spell becomes are lot more powerful. For one blue mana, counter a non-creature spell like a sweeper, unless the opponent pays 1 mana, plus 1 for every creature in your party. If you have a full party of four, this means the opponent must pay 5 mana to ensure the spell triggers. If you counter an expensive sweeper like Blood on the Snow, they won't normally have enough to pay the cost.

You'll see me using Concerted Defense in this match, but with only one creature in my party, the cost was only 2 mana for the opponent, so they paid it.
