USB4 is a significant evolutionary advancement in the USB standards and will impact the IT workspace and technology you will purchase in the future. USB4 will have data throughput between 20Gbps -40Gbps with support for protocol tunneling of PCIe and DisplayPort via the USB4 fabric. Approved cables using the new USB-C type 2.1 connector will enjoy power levels of up to 240 watts. USB4 will use only the USB-C connector and cables will have to be carefully chosen to obtain the standard power and speeds available. USB4 will support Alternate Mode for Thunderbolt 3. We will review and look at this technology as it relates to IT professionals. We will look at troubleshooting.
