In place upgrading is fine when you have a clean system. However, mine has been used and abused over the past few months.
What started out as Ubuntu Mate now contains the Openbox, i3 and BSPWM window managers, and also Plasma.
Upgrading generally works, but what happens when you do this on a very "not standard" install?
I thought I'd make a video of the process I've just followed so everyone can see what worked, and what didn't.
Bottom line: the upgrade completed without errors, but the packages I had installed from the likes of github were broken. My personal lightdm scripts had been removed from the lightdm configuration as well.
But other than that, it worked!
