Russian forces attempted infiltration through now defunct Urengoy–Pomary–Uzhhorod gas pipeline going through Kursk oblast' to Sudzha, and then further south to Ukraine. The pipeline has diameter of 1.4 m and has remains of hydrocarbons inside. A diversion group of 30-100 people reportedly walked ~12 km inside the pipe and left to the surface at location 2.5 km from Sudzha. At that time ZSU claimed their appearance was monitored and the group was destroyed by artillery, but subsequent loss of Sudzha to Russians suggests that the pipeline operation, later named operation "Stream" might have been actually successful and much larger force (up to 800 soldiers) may have infiltrated.
