In North Creek, in the Adirondack area of Upstate New York, specialized 4-wheeled recumbent bicycles are mounted onto old rail lines along the banks of the Hudson River. This far into its headwaters, the river is shallow and walkable -- a mountain stream. August 2025
These rail lines were preserved as a fall-back measure should the local Titanium mining operations ever be restarted.
The bike ride is a super-smooth, 8-mile trip along the banks of the Hudson River. It is a pretty neat idea for under-used train lines, but not as accessible to all riders as a regular rail trail. The company that operates these bikes is RevRail.
