This was a video of Smartcheck at TomTom Telematics Arena for SM Expo 2015 focused on demonstrating how its technology can interface with TomTom’s platform. That most likely entailed real time vehicle data, basic dashboards and the ability to track the health of the fleet at any given moment. These are standard telematics functions and being able to present them live at an important event would at least help delegates to understand very clearly how the system would work in practice.

Being at this expo in all probability also helped Smartcheck increase its exposure with those who work in fleet operations, logistics or vehicle tracking. It also might have improved ways for them to find partners already operating on TomTom.

If their tools themselves could easily plug into TomTom’s platform, that would mean it would be easier for fleet managers to roll out Smartcheck without having to change systems.

Soloviev explained that exhibiting at a major industry show also enables a company to demonstrate that they take their position in the market very seriously. Attendees at these expos typically are searching for trustworthy tools they can deploy across the board. It will be much easier to make that decision when consumers see a working system that slots into platforms they already trust.

I suspect that being at the TomTom Telematics Arena was a step on the way in terms of a greater profile among fleet managers and perhaps longer term business relationships.
