The quest for a friendly Linux PDA

time3 months agoview38 views

We're a queer hacker group that built Beepis, an open Linux PDA: to talk, collaborate, and have fun. A tale of cross-country hardware building, failures and successes!

We are part of a decentralized Hacker collective, Hackmods, that set out to build the Beepis - a hackable Linux-powered personal communicator with a QWERTY keyboard, aiming to augment and replace our phones. We built the Beepis to talk to each other, to help each other, and to make cool software together! This is a tale of building hardware across state lines, all the ways we've failed at it and then persevered, radical open-source as a fuck-you, adding heaps of features, flights, and ADHD compliance.
